I use http://www.processlibrary.com to research them. You may want to go to http://www.winpatrol.com and download their free startup utility. It will also look in registry startup areas beyond msconfig, as well as services, and running tasks in one nice interface. You can "Disable" startups and re-enable very easy if you want them again.
