Ah! A fair, open-minded question that doesn't already have an answer in mind? How unusual. Kudos!
And in that spirit, let's stick to verifiable facts and leave conjecture to the reader. Let's stick to the present and not muddy it with assumptions of robber barons of centuries past.
Forms of influence:
A) Political - even though it is relatively independent, all members of the Board of Governors are appointed by the president and confirmed by congress. The Fed is also overseen by congress, specifically by the Joint Economic Committee I believe
B) Private banks - 6 of the 9 board members for each branch are voted by member banks. Board members also make up parts of key committees. While it is illegal for these board members to have a financial interest in a private bank, the ties are clear.
So how do you find out your answers:
1) You asked about specific individuals. Look them up and try to connect the dots. For instance, if you look up Rothschilds, you'll find the Rothschilds banking empire is a mere shadow of a once great banking empire. Most of their banks have been closed a long time ago (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rothschilds and
http://www.answers.com/topic/rothschild-banking-family-of-england ). You can conclude very little influence today though they did have much influence during the Fed founding.
2) Look up the members of the Joint Economic Committee (http://www.house.gov/jec/jecmembers.htm ) then look up their contributers (example: http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/allcontrib.asp?CID=N00000834 ).
3) For member banks - Their shares in the Fed branches is directly related to their size. So determine the top banks then determine their top shareholders.
And this is very easy to figure out.
First find the biggest banks. Example: From 2004, the biggest banks were (ref: http://www.gfmag.com/2004/Oct/c_ci/fe_art01.php)
- Citigroup
- JPMorgan
- Bank of America
Now just look up the biggest stockholers of those banks. That's easy to find out since it is public information and available on finance.yahoo.com.
For example: Citigroup (ref: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=C ), the top three shareholders are
--- Barclays (4.5%)
--- Capital Research and Management (3.8%)
--- AXA (3.4%)
--- Largest individual shareholder: Sanford Weill (0.3%)
You may need to dig deeper. So who owns Barclays? (ref: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=BCS
--- Lazard Asset Mgmt (0.43%)
--- Morgan stanley (0.17%)
--- AXA (0.16%)
--- Largest individual shareholder: None big enough to be listed.
I hope that helps. Good luck with your research. Please post your findings for the rest of us. You can post it as a request/question to validate and react to your findings.

When you say legitimate, do you already have a bias on what constitutes legitimate? Wealth can have influence, and if that is the connection you want to investigate, I recommend studying the financial panics of 1873 and 1929. If the connection you want to investigate is religious, you may need to read some conspiracy fiction.

Good luck! I don't think there's much info that links Rothschild to the Feds, but try one of the videos floating around Google:
