First I will say that I am the biggest Michigan fan I have ever seen, or known.
No, they won't start out # 1, that distinction will, more than likely, go to USC (deservedly so), UM will probably be # 2 but it depends on USC and UM how long they stay there.
USC has a formidable away schedule (Nebraska, ND, Oregon and Cal) so how they start against Neb. should tell how their season goes.
Michigan's away sched. is decidedly easier, though, with games against Oregon, ND, Penn State, at Michigan State and Wisconsin then (of course) OSU to end the season I don't think too many teams in the country would trade schedule's with Michigan. In my opinion, the Penn State game will be the season's barometer.

It truly is hard to answer. Michigan is one of the best D1 college football school in the nation. They always have surprises every year. This year, they nearly tied/beat OSU. Anything can happen. Ima michigan fan myself but I look at reality as well. OSU will not be Number 1 this year. Too many of their great players are gone. My biggest bet will be USC, and Michigan as the final 2. If not, Florida and Michigan.

Nooooo! Every year, Michigan is overrated, and Chad Henne is overrated. They always lose against great competition. Over the last few years, the only reason they had a good record is because they had a fairly easy schedule compared to a team like Florida. And we know how Florida rocked Michigan's Big-10 rival in the NC game.

no probably not, im a huge wolverines fan, but dont see it happenening
but once the season starts, they could climb up and reach that spot, seeing how they henne, hart and manningham all back for this year.
they lost some key defensive players, but michigan always has solid players who step up

For the same reason that they didn't win the national championship last year.....?????
It doesn't matter who's rated #1 at the beginning of the season just who's #1 at the end of the season......!!!!!!
A lot of you Michigan fans wanted to make us watch a rerun of Ohio State and Michigan for the championship, I'm glad we didn't have to endure that.........neither one of you ended up being national champs..........!!!!!!!!!!
ROCK, CHALK, TALK........oh were not in Kansas anymore???

They could be at several points in the year, I think they'll bounce up and down in the top 3 all year, but in the end I dont think they'll win the NC or even be in the National title game..

Yeah right buddy. Michigan is going to be in the top10, but maybe 8,9, or 10. They will move down too. My Ohio State Buckeyes will be #3 though. MICHIGAN SUCKS!
GO BUCKEYES!
