Yes, while at school you are wrapped in a securtiy blanket. It is very frightening to have to go out into the wide world and be a small fish in a big pond. But - it has to be done. Take a deep breath - square your shoulders and be prepared for the rest of your life.

College Will Be Fun.You'll Have More Freedom And More Adult Desscions To Make. And Since Your Still In School,The Best Thing I Would Suggest Is To Get All Of Your Friends Cell Numbers & Stay In Touch. You'll Be Fine.

Good Luck & Best Wishes,

I felt sad when I was leaving school although quite a while ago now, I was having lots of problems at home and didnt feel I would cope as some of the teachers at school had really helped me and listened, I then realised that was it I would never be back here and felt so sad but I went on to college and I have to say it was great, I made strong friendships same as I had in school and loved every minute of it, it is sad because you are leaving that part of your life behind but they are all memories and I'm sure once you go on to college you will have a great time too. Goodluck with your course

I think any fundamental change in the regular routine of a person's life can often make a person feel depressed and have a sense of sadness. I remember it when I graduated high school (and I hated school!), I remember it when I have moved far away, or finished college, whatever...I think just learning to embrace the idea that life is a progressive flow helps. Leaving high school is a big change and things will never be the same - but the future is so wide open, isn't it exciting?

I'm in the same situation! Think Ahead! you will go to college (as I will and be) with some old friends and make a whole bunch of new ones! The ones that are older and saying they wish they were back at school just can't handle a more mature world and also may be regretting not doing as well as they could in their time at school! Dont get stressed or depressed! Focus on your life and what you want to be able to do in the future! If you need a chat click on my profile e.mail me (you can add my e.mail on msn too) - my IM aint working :( ! x

I understand how you are feeling. my son left school last year when he was 16.
I have some good pointers for you. Make sure you get every ones email address and contact numbers of friends at school so you don't lose touch with them.
I know it's kinda scary when you leave something you are used to (School) and go to college.
you will enjoy college as they treat you as adults more than kids. You are at college because you want to be rather than because you have to be like school.
think of college as a fresh start and a different chapter in your life. You will make lots of new friends.

Age hurdles are always sad, but that's life you have to grow up. It's funny every teenager spends all their time desperately wanting to be an adult then when it looms it all gets a bit scary and we'd rather stay children.
Nothing you can do about it and I assure you you will feel the same way when you finish college or leave a job later in life. It just that moving on emotion, enjoy your memories and look to your future.
Best of luck.

Change is scary!
Make a plan with your friends that you'll get together every fourth of July, etc, and make an effort to do that.
People are always telling about their life-long friends...it can be done if you work at it.
If your friends aren't THAT important to you, enjoy them for what they are, and if you reach out to people, be friendly, and enjoy yourself, you'' find that the natural order of things includes replacing old friends with new ones.

Well you could say that it is the end of an era and you have to move on to another one.You have also been in a secure worldso now it is time time to venture away from your friends and make new friends. It is scary but you can do it.This is the same for my daughter but she is at primary school. It is the last year for her to betogether with her friends.

You're just going through a transition period - you will be fine. In a few years you will be on here saying - i love college and now i have to leave to go to university.

Just look forward to spending the summer with your friends.

Best of Luck and i wish i were in your shoes............
