When you apply nail polish, apply moisturizer to your nails and cuticles (I'm not kidding), and then use an emery board to push your cuticles down. It shouldn't hurt. If it does, then soak your hand in warm lemon water for 10 minutes or more, depending on your cuticles and skin.
My procedures work, but they take time, so do it at night or during your TV time or something.
Apply your first coat of nail polish, and let it dry for 10-15 minutes. Even fast-drying nail polish. Then, apply a second coat and wait for 10-15 minutes. After that, apply a third coat, and wait for 10-15 minutes. Then, apply a coat of clear nail polish. If you're putting on a glitter coat, then apply two coats and then apply the clear coat. Apply another coat of the clear nail polish, and wait for 20 minutes. Once it is dry, take a squirt of hair conditioner, and rub it over your nails. This will prevent the polish from chipping even more. I know that is gross, but it works. Also, for shine, clear nail polish - reapplying once a week minimum when wearing polish. If you go to the nail salon, if you get stickers and stuff put on, apply a coat or two of clear nail polish on top. It works like glue, I'm not even kidding, only it comes off when you apply nail polish remover just as easily!

You could try putting clear nail polish over your color to act like a base. If you use clear, your polish will be covered and would last longer because clear is thicker than regular color.

Get some long lasting nail polish. Search on the internet and at your local pharmacy.

Start with a professional manicure. Every few days following, apply one thin coat of Nailtiques 1. Also, lighter color polishes last longer than darker colors.

its hard to keep polish from chipping on natural nails because of oil's. You can try to use a pH balancer on them first. Tammy Taylor line has a pH balancer
