This house has a chimney running down the middle in the back of the house and in the bedroom , the wall is a part of the chimney but it is smoothed out into where the drywall starts and the moister and leak from the chimney are causing it to bubble out. I know I have to start by repairing the flashing around the chimney the go from there.. A little help on painting decisions.

I don't think it would hurt to use waterproofing paint on a chimney, but check with the manufacturer, since it will be doing high temperature fluctuations it might not tolerate it.

You are correct, flashing needs to be done immediately. Then you need to remove all the moisture damaged wall and ceiling. Check for damage to wood, insulate well (follow manufacturers instructions regarding fire allowance around the chimney) and that should help with the moisture also. Where the two meet (wall and brick) I would use a silicon caulk to finish edge.

Water proof paint only is water proof on the top not the inside of the paint. moisture from under the paint will still make it bubble, so I wouldn't waste the extra money.

the paint can be any interior paint you choose, the real problem has to be solved, how the moisture is getting in... no paint will hold up to moisture... the result over time will be mold...
