I asked a valid question, but some Ameba resonded by telling me I "was dumb." I've already reported it as abuse but doubt anything will be done. Can I delete the answer, and if so how?

Oh, I've just checked that question, looks like the answer was deleted. reporting it did work. Here's my old answer:

There's a flag next to the thumbs up and thumbs down. You flag their answer for abuse as you probably did, and the higher ups might delete it (it could take a few days or even weeks before they get around to it).

The abuse thing does work, I've had my answers deleted when people reported me (and I wasn't even trying to insult anyone).

If you merely give it a thumbs down, you can hide it from yourself. (I do that to hide answers that I don't want to see again.) It should be hidden now from you anyway from reporting it as abuse.

You could delete your question entirely. I delete my questions when there are no good answers (which doesn't happen very often) and I don't want anyone to get ten points on a vote.

But anyway, I've been called worse. Don't worry about what that Ameba says, especially if they never met you. They're probably just an unemployed troll.

as far as I know if yahoo has a report of abuse on a site they will erase the answer for you.
and sometimes when you ask a question some people are looking for a change to just be stupid so don't take it personally like everything else in this world you have to take the bitter with the a sweet

You cannot delete the answer. The best to do is report or thumbs down. At least it is collapse from your view and other people may or may not report and thumbs down.
If you really really want it off the internet and no one answered your question then delete the question and ask it again.

If you gave them a good enough reason then they should delete it. other than that you have to consider the fact that there are lots of other people out here from many different cultures and what the word dumb means to you may mean somthing completely different to someone in another culture
or country. hang in there you'll get used to it.

The best is to give the answer a thumbs down.

It the answer violates the rules then you can click on the flag and report it and yahoo will investigate and remove the answer and contact the answerer

Report abuse again and maybe get a few of us to report abuse and maybe people pressure can prevail.

I don't much like the patronising attitude of "thicker skin".You're sensitive a probably lovely and deserve to be protected from nastiness that hurts you even if it wouldn't hurt someone else.

Only moderators can delete the answer.

So not much you can do but wait for the abuse team to get back to you, but by then your question will be buried, so don't even bother worrying about it. not worth wasting your energy on someone who wants to be a jerk.

try deleting the whole question and post it again. Good luck and remember you gotta put up with the bad to get to the good.
