Why is this such a big issue? I breastfed my son in public, and you wouldn't believe how many people didn't even know I was! They would come over to look at the baby and not realize until they were 2 feet from me what was happening. I don't think it's appropriate to have everything hangning out, but if you can do it discreetly what's the problem?

Maybe you use your children as "pawns" to make a statement for you- but I DON'T!

jomaccar-
Maybe you've never seen anyone breastfeed- the whole bare breast isn't out! I always wore 2 shirts- left the bottom one down- and just lifted the top one so my entire breast was covered by either shirt or baby's head. I never thought I would do it in public because I didn't want to give people a show- I'm a pretty modest person. But it really can be done without flashing anyone!

I'm more concerned about the mother. I mean you wouldn't want some pervert running up to you and ripping away the blanket and exposing you to the world or anything. I think done in private is better just because of the huge amount of sick perverted people in the world.

How can you discreetly have a kid sucking on your bare breast? Sorry, I know it's perfectly natural, but it is NOT pleasant to see. You know the kid is gonna be hungry, feed it before you go out.
In my opinion, and I will never assume I'm speaking for others, it's disgusting and should never be done in public.

Why can't you feed your baby before you go out? I don't understand. Yes babies get hungry, but it's usually every 2 hours ~ or whatever his/her feeding schedule is. Maybe you're purposely waiting so that the baby is fed in public.... trying to make a statement? Not everyone wants to see that.

yeahhhh.... great comeback -weirdo

I don't find it disgusting or anything, but I do think it should be done in private. I think it's kinda hard to do that discreetly and for me personally it's weird. Whenever I have kids, I definitely won't be feeding them in public, but that's my personal choice. I won't bash on you for choosing to do it in public.

"Discretely" being the operative word, here.

I don't like seeing it all hang out.
