Hi, i've been having a big argument with my friend and he seems to think that the phrase is "king of music". Please confirm that elvis is called the "king of rock". That is the phrase that describes elvis. Me and my friend as sad as we are to be debating about this are just bored, Elvis is the "king of rock", nobody calls him the "king of music". Even if he is, what's the difference? Just confirm which phrase he is used please.

He's called "The King of Rock 'n' Roll" or "The King"

Definitely the King of Rock. Like said before, there are too many genres to hype him as the King of all Music. He'd be too busy competeing with James Brown, "The Godfather of Soul, Hank Williams (Possibly "The King of Country"), or Arethat Franklin (Could be "The Queen of Soul").

Specifically, "King of Rock-n-Roll", eventually just "The King".

Also, I'm 35, and even growing up and having lived in various parts of both of his home states of MS and TN (including Memphis), I have never heard anyone refer to him as the King of Music. That is far too broad of a title for anyone, music has been around forever and there are too many different kinds.

He was known as the King of R&R.. NOT ROCK! For me,he was the king of that era, early 50's to early 60's but not in my opinion the best at the rockier stuff,I'd give that to Little Richard or Jerry Lee. R&R was going way before the 50's,just came under the genre of R&B It was Allen Freed in 51 who popularised the term R&R

I prefer not to think of Elvis as either, it is 'the King of Rock', though.

I would say King of Rock, because there are so many different types of music, Pavarotti would possibly be King of Opera.

"King of rock" Michael Jackson is "king of music" I think though I don't like all his songs.

I think Elvis is seriously overrated if you ask me but thats me.
