every now and then. in a car, on the couch, passed out in a bathroom. or in the process of kicking them off, in wich case i wake up with one on and one off.

Oh yes, before I went barefoot all the time I'm sure I've fallen asleep on the couch or recliner still wearing shoes. I'd often take off my shoes at home but not always.

Yes, when I was a kid I used to fall asleep on long drives sitting in my parents' car, wearing all clothes and shoes. But I've never gone to bed with shoes on.

At home I remove my shoes as soon as I enter the house.
If I drop off on the train or bus, I don't take them off.

Yes, and since that implies that the rest of the clothes are on as well, I wake up in the middle of the night and rip everything off! Whew! 'Cause you get so uncomfortable and overheated!
