We are in Allentown PA and it got quite cold here this winter. Should i just rip last year's plant and replant? Thank you and happy Spring...:)

They are annuals, so are NOT SUPPOSED to come back, but as with any 'hearty' annual, if your winter's not too cold, they MAY come back.

Also, lots of annuals will drop seeds, unnoticed by you, then the seeds will survive the winter & start blooming! (The best for this is ZINNIAS! I've have two HUGE crops of them that have come up as 'volunteers' for the past 3 years!)...

I think you're in Zone 6--I'm in 7, a bit warmer than you-- the only petunia I've had come back was ONE pot of the WAVE petunias. It died almost immediately the summer I bought it--I left it on the corner of my deck & it started growing again the following spring! The WAVE is a hybrid that's genetically altered to be bigger & heartier.

Petunias are an annual. If they come back, it would be because of self seeding. Often, they are hybidized, so what you had last year may not be the same this year.

Start with new plants and pull the self-seeders out. That way you can get your bed to look the way you want it.

I live in Florida and YES they do come back. We had petunias early last year and replaced them thought the year with many other flowers and they have come back twice now. Mind you they are not as nice as the first year, and they are not going with the color scheme right now so we are removing them AGAIN. I would say it would depend on your location really, I still have my poinsettia tree from 2 Xmas ago, and is doing very well. It is all up to mother nature.

We are in the south, and I have had a couple of blooms on one plant that was still in a hanging basket. It was in the storage shed protected from the cold, but it was not the same as the full flowering plant of yester year.

Start over.

No they are annuals, rarely they live over. Rip those babies out and start over. Still pretty cold there I would expect, but nose around the garden center or nursery.

No Petunias do not come back. They are not a bulb plant.

no they don't, but my neighbor has something that looks very much like a petunia that either comes back or reseeds every year. I wonder what it is?

No, they don't come back. They are annuals, not perennials.
