As a British man i cannot undertsnd why circumcision is so widely practiced in the United States of America?
I feel circumcision is mutalation. I know it is praticed in some religions, but why do the non christian parents perform this barbaric pratice on their children.Do Americans wish this had/had not been done to them. Do you prefer a man circumcised or not and why.

well, truth be told there are very few valid resons for circumcision that is why they removed it form the national health in 1949 in the Uk, many European countries do not do it and Canada has been eliminating it from medicare.

then again some people do seem to believe it is required so the son can
a) look like his father
b) be the same as his friends
c) not masturbate
and so on.

the first two are just bull since if no one circumcised, then they would all be similar anyway. And I have yet to find a circumcised buy who doesn't masturbate; many I know do it way more than I do - hehe

It's done for health reasons in the US. There are many health benefits (reduce chance of infection in self and cervical disorder in female partner, easier to keep clean, eliminate odour, eliminate any chance of penile cancer, increased protection against AIDS virus and others) and very few risks.

I'm not a Yank, but I was circ'ed fairly recently and I didn't have any pain or discomfort whatsoever. It looks great and there's no longer any smell, especially in summer because there's no smegma or stale urine buildup problem.

I haven't lost sensitivity in the glans (the size of which increases after the op by the way) and the feeling around the cut line during erections is nothing short of electrifying! I kept the frenulum intact because of personal preference.

I didn't lose any nerve endings in the inner foreskin. But I don't think it's possible anyway because a penis is all about deep-pressure sensors and sensations of pleasure have almost nothing to do with the foreskin.

The anti-circ league have no clue and neither does anyone who hasn't been circumcised as an adult.

As an American who wasn't, I can tell you that roughly 90% of the men in America are circumcized. The medical profession has convinced parents that it is a preferred practice. I am happy the way I am, but I have a friend who had it done just prior to going to college, just so he wouldn't look different than his peers. If there is any blame for how common the practice is, I think it must be laid at the door of American doctors who almost all insist it should be done.

It is not due to any religious practice like a lot believe. it's about hygiene. I had a friend who's brother wasn't circumcised and he was riding bike. He wasn't paying attention he hit a car and cut his, p**is. The mother took him to the doctor and the infection had grown under the foreskin they had to circumcise him to get the infection out. I hear guys are more sensitive not circumcised. So you can see where it has good points and bad points. Personally I don't mind as long as he is clean and can perform well.

Very interesting read, bf, ive been trying to find the reports from men circumised as adults after having sex, and also from women whove had both types of penises.

Is the frenulum the most sensitive part for you?
Before you were circed, could you have the exposed penis head rubbing on underwear all day, without pain?

Was your uncirced penis glans veryvery sensitive?

The decision to circumsize our baby was a very tough one. I did not want to do it (for the reasons you've stated) but my husband wanted it done. He said it would be cleaner and he would be spared embarassment at a later age.

most educated people understand the need for circumcision but if you do not want to perform this healthy hygienic operation then don't..its not barbaric to the enlightened but that's depends on what the parents want for their child.

Ritual infant circumcision is certainly abuse and should and will be made illegal in due course.
