well acually I am an electrican so heres the most obvious thought I have, are you sure the wires are extra?,if you are sure they are extra just wirenut them off, and push to the back of the fixture box, if you have 2 hots, 2 nuetrals, and 2 grounds, then that makes me think you have 2 lights on the switch, such that the wires are passing through the first light to the next,in this case all hots go together, all nuetrals together and grounds together, but if that is not the case, maybe there used to be a second light and it has been removed or covered during a remodel , who knows, or it could be fed at the light instead of the switch and switch looped down to the switch,do you have a meter to test wires and such, call an electrician, if you dont, although it would seem like a waste of money, how were the wires in the box in the first place?, are you in america or elsewhere?, national voltages vary, you may need both hots, ok now im just rambling,.. bye

Splice the 2 live together and the2 neutrals together and the 2 grounds and then put the light wires on with the wires black to blacks and white to whites and ground to grounds

connect all the neutral wires together, all the hot together as well as the ground. They evidently are there for a reason and running somewhere else.

after you have the light properly wired, put closed wire connectors on the other three wires to prevent them from coming in contact with each other. this will prevent an electrical short and possible fire
