I think that anger is really hurt feelings with boxing gloves.
So I usually go away from the person/situation I am angry with (so I wont say or do anything I'll regret later) and try to figure out why I'm angry. When I calm down I'll talk with the person and tell them what I was feeling and why I was angry.

Anger is usually caused, for me, by being powerless against something I feel is injust, or hurting personally by something out of my control. Anger for me come from frustration, and because I am not a violent person, turns into sorrow. Becoming violent only makes it worse, doesn't relieve anything.

What I do is focus on something positive that I can do. Positive in this sense refers to something that I can make happen, instead of something I have to watch happen or something I can't change.

I can build something, improve something physically, put a lot of effort into my business, and these things help my anger dissipate as I realize that there are things that I can't change, but many things that I can. I am not powerless in the world, and I can make my small corner of the world fair and a place where love and good will can flow freely.

Anger builds from fear. I find it helpful to pause, and try to understand what it is that I am afraid of. Sometimes I am so angry and I know that I'm afraid, but I really don't want to bother trying to understand why. When that happens, I pray, and try to let go of the anger. I often notice that when I am angry, there is a physical manifestation, e.g., clinching fist or teeth. Being mindful of these and releasing them often helps my mind to get back to recognizing that, ultimately, fear is not what I want to choose. It is very important to know that fear and anger are things that we choose, not things that just happen to us.

I try to just go somewhere to be alone until I get over it. I usually will go to the bedroom and try to read to get my mind calmed down.

I think of myself as I do have the same traits as those who raised me and brought me to the world. So the goal is for not becoming like them. lol
