Yes, it's going to hurt. Why lie. If you hair is thick or you have multiple hairs in a single pore it will hurt even more.

But forget about that. Try waxing something else first so you know what to expect (then multiply the pain by 3x). The Brazilian is the Olympiad of waxing. Go easy at first. Why not get a bikini wax at first to make it look trim and pretty. The sides (bikini) only hurt about half as much as the lips (Brazilian). You can keep your underwear on for that.

In the Brazilian (no underwear obviously) you have to lay with your one leg at a time bent out to the side and also extend your leg in the air straight to get in all the positions to get to your hair. I do not recommend giving yourself a Brazilian until you are a waxing pro! It's a lot quicker when someone else does it for you.

A professional will use creams to ease the pain before and after. And don't forget if a hair is missed by the wax strips - she'll have to use tweezers to grab it. Try plucking a hair yourself -see how that level of pain is for you first.

And you have to maintain it daily - loofah, ex foliate, etc. There are special products for this area. And you have to get it waxed again and again. But if it's any comfort, the pain does get easier the more times you wax - the skin starts to get a little tougher (not like your hands or anything) and you'll just adapt to the pain. Remember to take it easy at first and don't worry so much about the way other women's ....... look.

They will apply wax to your entire vaginal area (not all at one time) and apply cloth strips to pull the wax off - with your hair attached. They also will wax down into your butt crack too. It is VERY painful. I've always thought the result is worth it though. The first time is often the most painful. It will hurt more if you have thicker than normal hair, as I do :-( I suggest being very hydrated (it helps the hairs come out easier) and taking a couple tylenol or ibuprofen before hand. I've been to several different aestheticians for brazilians and each seems to have a position that works best for them. But the do involve being exposed. If you're shy, it might be harder for you. But keep in mind that these folks do this all the time - they are professionals and try to make it as quick as possible. Also, most of them have had it done themselves.

It all depends on the person waxing you and their personal method. For a brazilian some will make you take off your panties, my aesthetician lets me keep mine on and just moves them as she needs to. The level of pain is really on a person by person basis. I don't think they hurt that badly, but that's me. For a first time waxing I would suggest getting something like your eyebrows done so you at least know what to expect to happen when you go in for something like a brazilian.

Good luck!

Personally I havent been brave enough to wax, use other means for hair removal down there.(personal shavers are the bomb)

Here is a neat site with lots of info about pubic hair removal including information about waxing. From memory there is even a video of someone getting waxed so you might want to take a look. Crazy site but good information.
