1st point: It is not our place to determain what ANY ethnic group should call themselves. That is their right, not ours.
2nd point: What they are saying is that they have a right to this land. That the border line was drawn arbitrary by governments that massacred their people. They are trying to make a point because Americans are claiming that they shouldn't immigrate here (even though parts of America are their homeland)
3rd point: Most Mexicans are part Native American. So, why shouldn't they call themselves that?
4th point: As a Native American woman I recognize Mexican peoples Indigenous ancestry. I am glad they recognize it as well. We are allies, supporters of each other. If we could all support each other then our country would be much more peaceful.

Sounds like we have a couple racists here!
Actually most Mexicans have Native American blood in them - their ancestors are a mix of Spanish and Native American. As far as reclaiming California - highly unlikely

In my opinion, it's just psychological warfare. Mexicans did not exist before the Spanish explorers arrived. They are mestizo, mixed blood, and are trying to ride on the coattails of American Indians in a desperate move to gain amnesty.
Because of their indigenous ancestry they are native to the N.American continent, and Mexicans settled in California (land that was stolen from American Indians by Spain) before the whites did, but that doesn't make California their property or make them American Indian. Now that they have crossed the southern border by the millions and are on the verge of deportation, they want to be American Indian.
I see them as only mixed breed distant DNA relatives, and not American Indian or "Native American". The way Mexicans treat Mexican Indians in Mexico is prejudiced so their antics here are hypocritical and pathetic.
Mexicans don't know their history very well, most of them never made it past the 6th grade. I find their propoganda insulting to the American Indian tribes of the southwest. They are pushing all the wrong buttons, and they need to go back to Mexico.

I'm Mexican, and have never heard this. I'm Mexican, not Native American.....nothing wrong with being Native American, but I don't plan on changing my ethnicity any time soon.

Maybe native central americans, but in regards to north america, no, they were not here thousands of years ago as the true native americans (indians) were.

Thats kinda stupid. I always thought of Native as Indians. Mexicans are not Indian. And since they wanted their own country they are not part of the united states. You dont see canadians trying to call themselves NATIVE americans do you? I think that is stupid.
