There are as many words in a book as are required to make it complete .. as for publishing it .. these days a book can even be published on the internet .. if you need a (hard copy) publisher, that takes times, you need to see who publishes books of the type yours is, and then start mailing copies of it to them .. see what they say .. sometimes a few minor changes and they'll be willing to take the risk ..

my books tend to be abt 300 pages and they are 90-100,000 words.. Getting published is not easy, but you can self publish. Most publishers want you to have an agent which is not easy to get - make sure your work is perfect before you submit it.. do not pay any fees to agents, that is a con - they get paid a % of sales... or - - you can pay to self publish which is a whole nother route made available by on demand printing... and as everything else, you must investigate and sort the good from bad - - I think Barnes and Noble had a good deal - - but - check it out.. if you do self publish, you will have to do your own marketing as well.. - - good luck to you - there is lots and lots of competition out there - agents get on average 100 unsolicited manuscripts a week !! but you can send query letters or emails first and see if you can quirk an interest...

Its great that you are planing to publish a book. It will inhanse your writing skills. This is your book and you can express as many words in the book as you want. Talk to your local libarien for more info on publishing books. But, first try the internet to search on this. Maybe google.com
