I think they're saying that since there's a carnival in Iraq, things are great now, the Iraqis are free, there is no war and democracy has prevailed.
I agree with them. Let's bring the troops home TODAY.

Joe M: You were the one who pointed it out, I believe: how can they have a carnival in the middle of a war zone, right? So if there is a carnival, there must be no war zone. I agree with your point. BRING THE U.S. TROOPS HOME TO THEIR FAMILIES.

This morning, that morning, tomorrow morning, Easter morning, Christmas morning, Arbor Day morning, Memorial Day morning, June 15th morning, November 7th morning.....Never!!!!!.....lol.... The Major news networks all say that millions of the displaced refugees that fled Iraq were the ones needed to rebuild it. All that is left there are the poor underprivileged and un-educated which equal nothing to loose. Bush has to start the diplomacy process, and quick because the Democrat Congress isn't going to let up. The American people have spoken.

i'm a soldier and have kept up on the war, emagine a carnival in your home town, your sitting there having a good time watching the clowns, then you here something like a fire crackers in the back ground, then anexsplotion and smoke in the distance. sounds odd for a carnival isnt it. well thats normal to the citizens in Iraq.
just like when the WWE goes to bagdad, the iraqi security force and our troops help secure it.
bringing a carnival to the cities is a way of showing advancement in the war. letting pepole have fun in a not so fun world.
you got to remember, if we leave you will not see a civil war, you will see a nation from serria, iran, pakastine, try to conqure this frail nation, then we got bigger problems.

How in the hell can you justify a carnival in a place where there is a civil war all over the place. Rounds are flying, bombs, RPG's etc. Who is providing the security for this historic event? Is it the Sunni's, Shite's, or did the US get roped into this, who is running the rides, would you trust these idiots that were put in charge of this so called democracy with you children. Is this a top secret mission to draw the insurgents into a fun filled day. It is time to get our troops out of there, next they will be putting up petting zoo's.

I agree that the troops should come home. What makes me feel sad is thinking about the further descent into chaos for those poor people living in Iraq. I never supported this war to begin with and now we and they will have to live with the consequences. Why should the troops fight a war that cannot be won?

I wonder what they'll say is someone walks into that carnival with a bomb strapped to his chest? I hope to God something like that doesn't happen but Iraq is still a dangerous place. I'm assuming that they have increased security for the carnival but it's still risky. In fact there was a truck bomb today in Baghdad that killed 18 people.

It does give hope that the Iraqis are sick and tired of war and are ready to start settling their country. With luck, perhaps our troops may come home soon.
I wonder if this administration ever considered that the barbecue may be mightier than the sword.

Nice try, lib.
Just because your party didn't start the war, your country did. We need to make sure there isn't a bloodbath when we leave. I've heard it before, there's a bloodbath now, you say. That is true. But more like a blood trickle now. I mean there will be a genuine all out sectarian war if we leave.
We have a responsibility to make Iraq right. This means a change in strategy and this means more effort. It does not mean leaving Iraq because we don't feel like it anymore.

i agree.
the cons have done a great job at spending tons of money over there and blowing crap up and whatever else they have been doing.
really swell job cons - give yourselves a pat on the back.
now can we move the troops out of iraq and either redeploy them in afganistan, saudi arabia or pakistan or bring them home - iraq is as safe as a baby in it's mum's arms...

Things aren't that great, but they aren't nearly as bad as the claims of the major media. We are looking for balance. We did not go into Iraq to kill Iraqis. The Iraqi people love what we did and do not want us to leave until their nation is strong enough to defend itself.
