I am not a Dem or a Rep, but I can't help but wonder about this. The freshman Democrats in Congress that won their seats by running on certain immigration platforms are now having trouble following through. And, before it is said, it is not ONLY the Republicans blocking them. So, in conclusion, Bush SUPPORTED this bill, and the Democrats are lacking the necessary backing from their own party to make it work. Is this just proof the Democrats used underhanded tactics to win Congress? What do you think these Congressmen's supporters are thinking now?

The Democrats are in full meltdown mode. The Dems trying to pass anything is getting to be as tricky as catching a greased pig. Funny to watch.

What I'm thinking is that these new officials haven't had enough time to prove themselves one way or another. I'm an Indie so I'm with you on the not Dem or Rep......I guess we'll all have a better picture in the fall. I'm willing to give them a bit of time to work things through. Heck, Bush has had 6 years to come up with something and all we got was a lousy war, tax breaks for the top 1-2% of earners, a national deficit that is outrageous, an international reputation that is in ruins, human rights abuses....I could just keep going but you get the gist......I'll suspend my judgement for now.

Democra5ts have no problem with following through. Look at the first 90 days, they did it all. Have some more cool aid.
The Social fabric of Iraq has been destroyed. It was destroyed by Sanctions on Iraq after Desert Storm.
Iraq is now in civil war. Only the brain dead will not face that set of two facts.
In Iraq now they have only two hours of electric service per day. No one in Baghdad goes out because of fear of death squads in the streets.
The President and the Republicans in Congress want to "WIN" in Iraq but they all refuse to tell the American voters what the definition of winning. WE now spend one billion dollars of American tax payers money per week in "Winning" in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The "war" on terror rages in Afghanistan and Lebanon but there the drug lords and the Taliban are regaining power. Opium production in Afghanistan is back up to it's pre Invasion levels.
Congress in fact did approve the removal of Saddam they also approved the search for WMDs they have never approved occupation. All in Congress now refuse to use the word occupation.
None in Congress also mention the fact that we invaded Iraq after they surrendered after Desert Storm.
The vote in Congress today in the House was 218-212 along party lines Democrats won by only 6 votes. A full 212 Republicans don't get it. Bush, Cheney and Rice don't get it, they never will get it. The Impeachment of Bush is the only course of action for Democrats. The American voters have spoken on this issue. Congress and the current administration did not hear them.

Good morning jhl.
The Dem's ran on a Anti-Bush, Anti-war platform to get elected. They wont vote for the Presidents Bill even though it spells out nearly everything they could hope for. On their own partisan hate platforms they would be crucified if they ever were to agree with President Bush. It will never happen.

I think you pretty much know if they don't deliver they won't be going back in 08.
If the Democrats fail to do as they promised, we may see a 3rd party majority in congress in 08 for the first time ever.

The fact remains that politics is about tactics, regardless of the party. And that this is not as bad as it sounds. People are people and have different views on almost anything so governing has to be about compromise.
Or we could shoot each other.

It could be they lied so people would vote for them. You know stranger things have happened in politics, although telling the truth seems to be the rarest.

The better question would be: How much did Bush pay you to post such a one-sided (finger pointing) political question?
