It belongs to Native Americans who were there first, its nice that you want to belong in America but it is unfair for the cowboys to claim what doesn't belong to them and make everyone else feel that they are the immigrants.

The truth is they don't want to acknowledge the horrible foundation of this country. They want to justify the actions of their ancestors so they don't have to feel guilt and so they don't have to acknowledge continued oppression.

Native people did not migrate from Asia. The land bridge (Bering Strait) theory is just that, a THEORY. It is a form of scientific racism. There is more evidence to disprove it than to prove it. Scientists, scholars, and common citizens believe in it today on blind faith. They want to believe so they can feel more justified in the stealing of this land. They think that if Natives were immigrants too then we all have equal rights to the land. It is a load of B.S. Read "Red Earth White Lies" for more information.

And you are right. They want to make others feel as immigrants. They want Mexicans to feel bad for being immigrants. The truth is that before colonization Mexican people were Natives just like North American Natives. They have as much right to be here as anyone else, they have a right to be on their homeland. Just becuase the government sets up arbitrary borders and declares others as immigrants doesn't make it true.

Regardless. We cannot ignore the past. Oppression still exists today! Until we acknowledge the past we cannot move forward and heal. How can we work on today's oppression if we don't acknowledge it origins?

At that time, everybody was trying to claim land. Yes, it does belong to the native americans and although everybody would feel a lot better and get much more satisfaction out of giving the land back, the fact is that we europeans (im british and american) took over america a long time ago, and can't change that. Now a whole country with 50 states has been set up! We can't change that, and many people were born and brought up there, so it's like a home to them, so they probably think as it's their home and they paid for it, it's theirs. Although it is technically Native American land. I don't agree with the situation, but there just isn't much we can do now, but the native americans deserve decent land, if the government realise the kind of importance of this matter.....
sorry if you wanted an answer that discussed the past, i think i went a bit off point..

Dear Isabelli,
You speak as if you claim the land as yours.

Remember the words of Chief Seattle; a Chief of the Suquamish Indians: "The Earth does not belong to Man, Man belongs to the Earth."
