I really think that is a subjective question. IF people don't listen to certain forms of music how can they know all the drummers? Obviously they'll pick from the bands they really like.. which isn't bad.. some could argue Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, some could say John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, Keith Moon.. Carl Palmer.. the list is endless. ON a recent poll of experts Nicko McBain of Iron Maiden was voted the top drummer. some of my favorites.. Jayson Heart of Saviour Machine.. Proscriptor of Absu.. Snowy Shaw.. to be really honest one of the most amazing musicians I have ever heard was a guy by the name of Fenriz (Darkthrone)(Isengard)(Storm) Ted Kirkpatrick (Tourniquet) Jayson Sherlock (Mortification, Paramaecium) that's all I can think of right now.

Nick Moon/Pink Floyd to name a few.. BUT the best I ever saw live was, believe it or not Phil Collins, he was surrounded by drums, and played everyone of them, very impressive.

i guess it depends on what field of music they are in, because the best jazz drummer and the best rock drummer have completely different styles. i'd say the best rock drummer might be travis barker, but there are thousands of drummers and it's hard to tell exactly who.
