Well, seeing as how I actually know one of these people, they get paid exceptionally well to basically "take the bullet" for someone. Not in a Secret Service sort of way, mind you, but they get paid to privately serve and protect someone who is wealthy enough to afford them. Basically bodyguards with guns!
