I am also a huge pink floyd fan, I agree that another brick is just a commercial oriented song, it has a great guitar solo but nothing else... I think Dark Side is an amaizing album and it means a lot to rock music but I personally think that ANIMALS and some material from WISH YOU WERE HERE and even MIDDLE are way more interesting than dark side... and finally (just to get the hands down) I really think that Momentary lapse and Division bell are simply outstanding... just my thoughs ... long time I haven't played another brick 2 and I don't feel encourage to play it for now. Not a big fan of Roger Waters myself.

It's irritating, but don't let it irk you. Just laugh behind their backs as you silently enjoy their much better songs.
I personally like the second half of The Wall better... maybe it's the lack of Another Brick in the Wall in any of the parts, and also the slowed down moods and ideas compared to the first half.
Dark Side is great, but be sure to check out Animals and Wish You Were Here too. Great albums. Also listen to some of the stuff outside of their "golden age", like Meddle and The Division Bell.
If you really really really liked The Wall, you can listen to The Final Cut. It sounds like (to me) the reject songs from The Wall. Awfully depressing, I don't like it much, but you might!
Most bigger fans of Pink Floyd know and love a lot of stuff outside of the big four. If you're really feeling nostalgic, try finding Piper at the Gates of Dawn. Think The Beatles only much, much, MUCH stranger. (I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house. I don't know why I call him Gerald. He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse. - Bike, written by Syd Barrett)
It's great that you prefer Pink Floyd over some of these bands today!
Anyway, it's a bit irritating. For example, some people at my school laugh at me because:
A. I like an older band
B. I wear shirts that say their name that don't have the Dark Side prism
and
C. I'm only fourteen, so I "don't know anything" and am therefore a poseur.
Heh! Age gets nothing in on that! Heck, I have Inside Out in my bookcase, and Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here, The Wall, Works, and a copy of the live Roger Waters in Berlin Wall concert. My favorite song is a bit of a struggle... I like Pillow of Winds and Nobody Home myself. If you have any questions about the band, you can ask me.

This totally pisses me off. I dont wear band T'shirts and this guy called me a poser when I said Pink Floyd was my favorite band, but it was he who didn't realize that Brain Damaged wasn't called "Dark Side of the Moon". Thats a album, not a song stupid!!!!! and he never even heard of Meddle, which is my favorite CD. People think that the idea of listening to Floyd is cool, but they really acually don't. That's what really annoys me, that they use Pink Floyd as an image, and don't appeciate them for what they are, great mucicians.

Vera! Vera! What has become of you? Does anyone here feel as I do? Another brick in the wall is a good song. Yet there are better songs on "The Wall" and especially on the greatest rock n' roll album ever made "Dark side of the moon."

Your friends can be fans of Pink Floyd and not have the same favourite songs as you. As you accumulate personal wisdom, you will learn that it's pointless to criticize other people's taste in music. They listen to what makes them happy as do you.
As for me, my favourite Pink Floyd tune is Echoes. Also, check out the live version of Astronomy Domine from the Ummagumma album. Dave is a wild man on guitar.

Posers...........The worlds full of them.
In their defense they may just be complimenting your shirt and need something to say because they heard the song "we dont need no education". Hehe.If I had a magic wand id want to populate the world with more 16 yr olds that really know and listen to really good rock and roll. Hip-hop and rap is now a cancer thats gone out of control. Rock on brother, and pay no attention to kids that know little about Pink Floyd.

I would suggest listening to something besides Dark Side and The Wall before criticizing others. Try Animals, Ummagumma, and Atom Heart Mother and get back with us.

HOW about Meddle.. That's easily their best album. Just listen to the music on One of These Days.
