For me, being a religious person, it's very important for a number of different things. I won't list them all, but although many people think its unrealistic having a 'big God up there', but do they have any other answers? All scientific evidence points towards the big bang, which i do not disagree with, I'm sure that it probably did happen. However, there is no answer to how this universe has been created.
It generally keeps me going, knowing that iv got somebody up there looking out for me. And it makes death a lot less scary, makes me a bit more laid back, i can have fun in life. I guess im a christian, but im definatly not a perfect one! I have sinned a lot. But yeah, thinking that there is something more than this, makes me feel more at ease, and safer with where my life is going.

It's a general consensus of belief that evolves slowly over time and is different from geographic region to region. It was likely created to numb the pain of death and then later used as a tool of control. It's important because it documents the human experience.

Well, let me start off by saying that RELIGION is man working, striving to reach God; however, in CHRISTIANITY it is about God reaching to fallen mankind and about how He sent His only Son to die in our place to be made right with Him and escape the reality of hell. No other religion speaks of God becoming man to be his substitute, and then literally become a CHILD of God... born of His Spirit. Anything that is not right and true in relationship (which is what Christianity is about) with Jesus will not work. Finding your soul's salvation through Him is essential, for without Him you cannot enter into heaven and live with Him forever. The Bible says even satan believes and trembles, for Jesus took from Him the keys of death, hell, and the grave. He only can help you to overcome the issues in your life. So trying to find enlightenment outside of Jesus Christ is a fallacy and is erroneous. Only the Holy Spirit can give true enlightenment, all else is of the devil. As per me relgn is distortion, prejudiced distortion o the original TRUTH, which were born after male chauvinism has bit into the human race. History, if you believe it, tells you that wars and destruction in the past and terrorism in the present are solely religion based. Crusades or Jihads are the same to that TRUTH - crimes against humanity as well as divinity. What is important is that TRUTH, not its distortion, the religion.

Human nature has a wild nature within themselves, that is wide and spread directionless, like a wild horse. Religion gives it a direction and potential by creating a fortified wall of good, bad, right and wrong.

Despite the fact that some people deny the existence of god. From my point of view I see religion to be a way for sticking to good manners. If people don’t believe in religion they wont have any manners and they will do what ever they want, they wont fear a punishment from god.
