Hi,

we are 4 friends, decided to give up our well paid jobs and go travelling to distant Asia.

I have set up a website http://www.cringel.com documenting our experiences with stories, pictures and video.

We are now into the 3rd month of our travel, but the amount of visitors is still quite low, around 50 uniques per day.

I think what we do is quite uncommon, and, as an inspiration, could be interesting for a certain amount of people who just can't decide what to do.

How do I reach those people?
Do you have any suggestions how do I increase the amount of visitors?

Sincerely,
Rimas

Hi,

You should not rely on exchanging links alone. In web marketing, you should be able to try on one or more strategies to gain traffic you want for your site. I suggest that you should try submitting your url to as many sites as possible. Also, try to join forums, which have similar interests as your site offers. This will also give you the exposure you wanted. Try to write articles about your site (products/services) and submit them to different sites that cater to article submission. The people who get to read them will become interested with your site. Gaining traffic takes time. And you have to wait for at least six months to see the actual results.

Good luck!!! =)

Small Business Marketing Strategy: Target the up-and-coming search engines

While Google still rules the roost when it comes to Internet search engines, and Yahoo is firmly entrenched in second spot, a number of new start-ups are hoping to give them a run for their money. And a good small business marketing strategy would be to check them out and see how you can make them work for your site!

Some of the new up-and-comers include:

Powerset : ( www.powerset.com ) A "natural language" search engine

Hakia : ( www.hakia.com ) A "meaning-based" search engine

Wikia : ( www.wikia.com ) A "community-based" search engine

ChaCha : ( www.chacha.com ) A "social networking-based" search engine

Snap : ( www.snap.com ) A search engine that offers visual previews

It's a smart small business marketing strategy to continue optimizing for the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engines as they are by far and away the most popular -- but niche search engines could provide new opportunities to reach your market. Be sure to check them out!

While my response may sound sarcastic its really an honest question - Why or rather what would make your site so interesting (not to you) but the public that they would go there?

First look at your website name. It says nothing about cool pictures of asia. It says nothing about what you are doing. I would start there first. Because of the go-zillions of names on the web, I would try to get a web name embedded or at least some what related to what you are doing

Consider starting with your warm market. Have your friends and family talking about what you do to there friends. Also, tell everybody you meet about what you are doing and pass out at least 5 cards each day with your website in bold letters.

people all over may not be looking for the same thing that you are selling. you can try to advertise with google or yahoo but it costs lot of money if you do not have any to blow it out

google and yahoo charge lot of money to be on the top of search engine unless your experience stories are needed and people try to look you up
