Asheville North Carolina, Charleston SC, Savannah Ga, Clearwater and Jacksonville Florida in the SE....
New Orleans (still) Corpus Christi TX and Jackson Ms. in the south.....
In the west there are too many pretty little towns to even list but everything is spread out so much more....I would avoid the big ugly California cities like the plague though (except San Diego)...but I would go with Salt Lake City, Portland and I personally like Spokane and Boise. The problem with the west is all of the "do-gooder mind everyone else's business liberals" make much of it pretty much uninhabitable to any normal sane thinking man.
I am not familiar much with the North....
In the midwest, you cant beat Chicago, Believe it or not Pittsburgh is sort of a pretty city. Like the west...a lot of small picturesque towns but the problem is the opposite as far as people are concerned...you have a lot of trashy welfare white trash people.
I would avoid the entire NE like the plague also...just like LA and San Francisco...I cant remember the last time i had a good time in one of the big cities....just too much crime and too many derelicts and too expensive but that is personal opinion...I used to love Cincinnati, it is a beautiful city...though the last time i was there it had turned into little haiti.....damn shame....

Kentucky is known for it's natural beauty.
http://d21c.com/moonbud/moonbow.jpg This place is in Corbin Kentucky. It's the only re-occurring Moon bow (a rainbow that happens at night over Cumberland Falls) aside from one in Zimbabwe. I'm going to say that is the prettiest place I've ever been...

Out of all the cities/towns I've visited in U.S. I would have to say that the most beautiful city is San Francisco, and the most beautiful town is Taos.

I like San Diego, little better than San Fransisco. San Diego is not as colder and has slightly less risk of earthquakes.
There are several attractions for the kids and adults in San Diego.

Rhinebeck, NY (about 2 hours north of NYC) is a beautiful little town, especially in the fall when the leaves start to change colors!
