Lack of iron is the problem in most cases. Put palm fertilizer around the base , out about 4 times the trunk size. Next mix liquid iron per instructions and spray the leaves. Remember if its only the lower leaves turning yellow, it natural they are starting to drop off. If you have a queen palm it may be lack of magnesium. If so skip the iron and spray with magnesium.

If you are going to use Miracle Gro, Osmocote or a similar product, look for the Nitrogen to be a higher number than the rest. Nitrogen is the first number shown on the box of three numbers (looking something like this 24-10-12). It'll help green up those trees.

check out this site http://junglemusic.net/palmadvice/palms-containers2.htm i was also doing some research on palm fertilizer, and this site seams to have some good info. myself i enjoy starting my palm trees from seed. so i have been using 2-7-7 fertilizer (schultze cacti fertilizer) for my young palms. good luck

yellowing is called chlorosis and it's often an iron defficiency. Look for a fertilizer that contains iron and/or micronutrients. Probably a water soluble fert will show results fastest (like miracle gro)

all the above answers are good but make sure your watering the tree from the top, not at the base. Thats where alot of people lose their trees.Good luck.
