My computer is not recognizing my external hard drives, help!?

Both my PC and Mac are not recognizing my external hard drives. I think I may have not properly disconnected them before shutting down my computer. What should I do?

U may have to format the drive...
I also faced the same problem few months back...

try reinstalling there drivers with them disconnected and then reboot .Finally plug them in and poof they should work again.
