I installed a new HP Photosmart C5180, when we went to print Works Spreadsheet like we did for years on the old printer which was an All In One like the new one. A message pops up saying I'm out of memory and needs to close. Had 512MB add and it now has 768MB. Everything we try to print in Works Spreadsheet it say out of memory. Thanks in advance for any help. Tom T.

I have 40.9 GB free space left on hard drive, I set the printer props to print directly to printer and the message still comes , Windows Works Spreadsheet is the only trouble that I have printing. Should I go and get more Ram another 512 to replace the 256? That would give me 1024MB

I hate to tell you this but it isn't the memory you replaced /add will help it is the space on your hard drive. more data like spreadsheets the less room on the hard drive you get to use a spooler/ temporary swap file for windows. I would recommend 2 different way to fix this problem..They are :
1.) set printer properties to print directly to printer
2.) get a bigger hard drive

Is the error message "out of memory and needs to close" coming from Windows or another program? Assuming Windows and you have enough free space on your hard drive, do the following:

Does your C5180 appear in Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes? If not, re-install the printer software. If so, is it set as your Default printer? If not, right-click on the HP and choose Set as Default... Delete any and all old printers from the list and re-boot.

Then in Works, hit Ctrl p to Print and select the HP Printer. Try printing other file types like .txt or .rtf, etc. If nothing prints, call HP.

also note...if you have 786mb of ram, and 700 is in use by the computer and background running programs, you may not have enough left over to do the print job. try rebooting your computer and print again
