What is the meaning of "arm" in this context?

It seems to be about some form of sub-category of Treatment - as in, "will read out the treatment *sub-category [number]* and the description that the subject has been randomized to. Please check the treatment *sub-category* that is read out.

It is rather cryptic, isn't it? Whoever wrote it, didn't write it terribly well.

The context sounds like arm would mean choice.
