I agree, it should be illegal, and next year, here in California, it will be! Hang up and F'ing drive! It is not just phones, I have seen people reading paperbacks, putting on makeup, having lunch, tending the kids in the back, smoking, rocking out to the radio with their eyes closed and head back... it is scary. In England, you can get ticketed just for eating or drinking while driving your car. It would be a s#!t storm here if we tried enforcing that, but there are WAY too many inattentive people out there who have enough trouble just driving safely without the distraction of cell phones or reading the gossip magazines.

Listen guys, the police are the worlds biggest offenders, I have seen no end of police in their cars using their radios on their jackets and in car whatever it is, radio?
I have personally witnessed police officers drinking whisky whilst on duty then o back out in their police cars and possibly nick someone for drink driving, geezer they nick wont think for a sec that the smell of alcohol is comming from the police officer because hes ten parts pi##ed himself.
Up to just a few weeks ago I respected police officers, but after givin my son an asbo twice for something he never did sickens me, my son was sitting in his car tlking to girls in another and mates in another, this idiotic boy racer came screamming into car park, did a burn up around the carpark and dissapeared, the police were in a close by shop which was an offlicence, they heard the boy racer, came around to the car park and got a bit hard on my son and his mate in his car giving both asbos but not the girls, why? because the girls knew the male copper, they told him my son and his m8 were sitting talking to them but he said if you want to make anything out of it he would take them down the nick, These ba#####s should not be police officers, I know plenty of brilliant bobbies on the beat of whom some have recently retired, they were respected by the kids as they would talk to the kids in a way that the kids respected them and behaved, if the police start recruiting these idiots who would nick their mums for brownie points, then hell mend them as its them that is causing al this hatred towards the police and its the bloody nice coppers that know how to police the place properly. sorry guys ut u have lost my respect and trust in the force untill u clean things up, get the good coppers and retired uys to train or retrainthese idiots who think they are the law themselves, its just like they put on their uniforms and as soon as the hats go on, they say to themselves while looking in the mirror, I'm the sherriff of this town, I think they watch too much american cop films ha ha.

LOL!! I think that pedestrians can not be subject to laws, as that is us in our natural state, so we should be able to do as we please. Don't go giving the government ideas!
