Has anyone been served by an order taker who is a sassy brat? Are the people working in fast food all rude? Do they really do gross things to your food?

This morning at the drive thru I had the window up because of a downpour, when I rolled it down and said "hello" the clerk came back and said in a grumpy voice "Well, I SAID "may I help you two times''". I explained why I didn't answer right away and she just used a mocking and sassy tone for the rest of the order.

Actually no, Im not sure where u live but if u live near a Chick Fil A u should go there and experience their service. They always say my pleasure and greet u as u enter and leave the establishment(especially if its not busy). Also this is one of the fast food restaurants that actually have ppl wanting to sit down and eat in.In the past i have worked in that restaurant and another fast food establishment and i definitely saw a difference in attitudes and behavior.Lastly in my days of working in that industry i have never, ever seen or heard of anyone doing anything gross with the customers food!!!!
P.S.
Keep in mind two things get off your cell phones when ordering and talking to any customer service personnel its rude!!! And treat the person who is helping u with respect because most are use that place as a stepping stone.

I have worked in fast food joints while in high school and college. When you eat at these types of places you have to take two things into consideration. First there has been most likely a few dozen people to treat them sassy that come there to eat, second most likely there probably making minimum wage just trying to get somewhere in life. I have always said please and thank you, to my knowledge no one has ever done anything gross to my food. If someone treats you sassy it may be a reflection of your own attitude.

i work in fast food and yes there are a lot of people like that. having to take orders from hundreds of people everyday is kind of stressing. You're right though giving an attitude 2 customers is just not right. And btw ive neva heard of anyone doing anything damaging to any of the food made at the restaurant i work at. its just something thats neva even thought about. but this is just our restaurant. i would be careful with anyone i crossed at a fast food joint. some people are pretty cruel.

My girlfriend and I both, too have noticed this. I think that the degeneration of the level of quality workers in this country has unfolded exponentially in this country. Unfortunately, younger people have so many more choices then there were for them 20 years ago. Minimum-wage jobs have entrapped younger people for years. And also, many younger people have never been able to escape the minimum-wage job, as it pays just enough to get the bills payed, but not quite enouigh to get ahead in life. Younger people are getting bolder, brassier, ruder, crasser, and downright contemptuous when it comes to haveing to serve the public more as a result of not being able to take advantage of the better choices out there. When I had my very first job, appearance was very important. Your hair, your level of hygiene. Now, it seems as though standards have fallen throughout the country, as employers know that even though the standards of its future new employees are falling, the employer still only has to pay minimum wage, and NOBODY gets full-time. Minimum-wage employers do not want to pay insurance or benefits. I think that teenagers are becoming more aware of what is out there, and it is upsetting to them, thinking that they will never have same oppotunities to progress and get ahead as some others their age. And I thinmk that sometimes, teenagers' rebellioussness is just a coping mechanism, having to work a job such as this. BUT IT IS STILL A JOB!!! And it should still be treated like a job, and the customers should still be treated like customers.
And for the record, NOBODY has ever messed with my fast-food order. It is very difficult to flip burgers or fill drinks with a broken head.

I don't think all people spit in your food if they have an attitude. I worked in fast food when I was in high school and never did that or my friends.
Don't take things personally..it's just a job and maybe they are having a busy day. Try to be pleasant so you get the same treatment in return and maybe turn their frown upside down :)

Yes there are some people that are immature and do discusting things to people's food. But not everyone is sassy. Maybe you are being to sensitive. How many people do you know really want to go to work. And they maybe having a bad. Or you maybe rubbing them wrong.

I worked at McDonalds for 2 years and some of the people I worked with were sassy and made customers mad. They usually got fired or sent to the back so they didn't have to deal with humans. I was a fulltime cashier because I was one of the only friendly and patient cashiers. That's why they kept me 2 years and were pissed when I quit for a better job (grocery store cashier). So, to answer your second question, not all fast food workers are rude. And a lot of times when they're rude, it's because they're overworked, stressed, and underpaid. Plus, the bosses are strict because everything has to be done a certain way. As for the gross things done to food....I haven't physically seen people do stuff to it except forget to put gloves on before they make the food. But there is gross stuff done to food. The McDonalds I worked at never had fresh food. The owner was a cheap bastard who wanted to cut corners with money to make himself look better....in the end we had to sell food that was HOURS old. Especially when we weren't busy. The food is supposed to be thrown away after like 30 minutes tops. It's gross. Some other stuff I heard of or saw was: a french fried FLY in a customer's fries....people say they had spit races in the grease vats (never saw them do it tho)....people have put salt in coffee or tea instead of sugar (on purpose).....my dad got a fish sandwich once and there was a huge bite taken out of it. I've never actually seen people spit in food or throw it on the floor or anything. And I've never heard anyone say they did that. So, I don't know if that was just the place I worked at or if all fast food places are like that. I also worked the drive through window a lot and sometimes it's hard to hear people or they don't answer and it's frustrating, but that girl you ordered from had no right to be rude to you. She needs to learn to toughen up and realize that crap happens and smile even if she's faking it because at least she hast a job! She should be fired for being rude though. Even when I was stressed and stuff, I always tried to make the customers think I was happy. Hopefully this helped and answered your questions! And NEVER EAT AT MCDONALDS AGAIN!!!! lol.
EDIT:
I went to Arby's with my boyfriend one time and he ordered while I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. When I went out to wait for the food with him the girls seemed all nice and stuff while I was walking up toward him, but as soon as I got there they all turned on us. He asked what I did to them and I've never seen any of them or talked to them in my life (because we live in Ohio and the Arby's was in S. Carolina). I think they were jealous or something cuz I have a hott boyfriend and they must have thought he was alone or something. Cuz as soon as they saw I was with him they got rude, snotty, sarcastic, you name it.... I said my pleases and thank yous. I didn't say anything to make them mad in any way. Then when we got our food it was all wrong....and all cold. So he went back up to tell them and I stayed at the table and they were all nice and saying sorry and acting like he was a God, then sent daggers and mean looks in my direction. It pissed me off. lol.
