Depends if there is an S-Video output on your laptop, most modern laptops do have one, it'll probably be a small round 4pin socket, and to connect it to your TV you'll need a lead, this could either be, s-video to scart, or s-video to RCA phono. Also make sure the drivers you have installed on the laptop support multiple displays. If you have any quieries give me a yell !!

S-Video to S-Video 4 pin cable - on an old or cheap TV set the picture might be black and white.

Composite Video to TV Composite Video (Phono/RCA socket) or via SCART adapter with Video In - SCART could be via video recorder. My laptop has 9 pin S-Video which also provides Composite Video and included the cable with output to 4 pin S-Video and CV Phono socket.

Cables should be connected before switching on PC and TV.

There are at least 3 ways I know of that you can do this but it depends on what input sockets your TV has. You can use the RGB socket on your laptop (they all have them for when you use an external monitor) or you can use an S-VHS socket from your laptop (if it has one). Latest laptops have DVI-D or DVI-I output sockets allowing digital connection to flat-panel TV's. But in all cases, it depends on your TV and the input sockets it has. If it only has phono sockets, your out of luck unless you buy converters!

Hi Beeramy,

Yes but you need a device like DVD Xpress.

With DVD Xpress you can transfer your video to your hard drive and then edit it if you desire or simply watch it. DVD Xpress comes with basic video editing software. I got mine at Sam's for $59.95. They are cheaper now. You can look at one & read about it here - http://www.usb-ware.com/ads-dvd-xpress.htm

You connect the composite output of your TV into the DVD Xpress and connect the DVD Xpress to your computer via a USB cable.

Another (expensive - $150) is this device from Pinnacle Systems - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8040611&st=usb+video+editor&type=product&id=1157068283607

It depends on your laptop. Many have S-video outlets that would enable you to hook it to a TV so equiped and use it.
