to new acquaintances online as well as in chat rooms, or groups....are there any things that you KNOW for a fact, that is "going way over the top", in talking with, or writing to a person online, besides, the usual such as bank accounts, home addresses, and phone nuimbers, and extremely private numbers and info etc.... what else is just not safe, at all?
IF anybody also has a personal story to share...please inform not just myself...but, others here as well. It can help people to know the truth!
thanks!

I think it is up to each person to be responsible for themselves, and everyone needs to be aware that they take a risk if they give out information.

I don't even give my name! But then again, without giving away too much personal information on here, I am still in education, and no, im not a forty year old who got held back 15 years in tenth grade, or eleventh or whatever! But yeah, it's up to everybody different to decide what is safe for them and what is not. Also it's a bit like temptation, because if you give out to much personal info, people can find out stuff about you, or like things that have happend before, you just get talking with somebody online, and go out to meet them and next thing you know it's all over the news that a young girl or boy died after they met somebody on the net. The consequences are pretty nasty. But yeah, personally, nothing more than a nickname and maybe a few opinions on stuff is given away.
I think i have a problem with writing essays on questions that only require a sentence.... sorry! Well, it wasnt that long...

Ah what is Truth?
The internet is a playground for kids/teens and adults but there is always predators near every playground.
You can have a lot of fun here but personal information is a total no-no especially for children/teen safety. Adults should also be careful about giving information to people your acquainted with especially if you find out they are local.

After chatting online with people for over 10 years, a few people do have my phone number and address but after 10 years you pretty much know them even if you couldn't pick them out if they were walking down the street. :)
The important thing is use common sense you can fall in love but you also can disappear as fast as a speeding delete button. It's the most anonymous form of entertainment on the planet.
But it also opens up worlds for people like I know people who are mute(she was local a friend with a birth defect), deaf, the elderly, parapalegic or just very shy and homebound that can play here for hours. Before the internet they couldn't do anything but sit and watch television or just stare at the walls.
Since human beings are involved just keep your mind in common sense mode and you will enjoy your stay here for years to come.

Just getting to personal to quickly I think is not a good idea. Tell a little about yourself but, not to much. Some times people don't realize even in a general conversation someone could figure out a lot more than you may intend for them to know.

You don't necessarily need to give exact descriptions these days for people to find another person.I heard of a case where a teen girl was found by just giving her sport team's name and her number on her jersey. So, I would say be discrete.

I don;t think giving out too personal revelations about oneself is permissible and acceptable. It can be dangerous and stupid.
What truth do you want to know for what reason.??
