Hi I know that you can "crack" open your computer and pull the RAM out of it's slot on the mb.. and figure out what RAM you need that way. Is there an easier way to do this? Is the info available in some area where comp tech info is stored? I'm a lil' lazy!

Use the Belarc Adviser. It's free and lists the make and model of the motherboard AND tells you how much ram you have as well how many unused RAM slots are available.

Using the make and model of the motherboard, search Kingston or Crucial for the correct RAM modules.

If you want to find out what RAM you have, and you have a PC, go to My Computer, right click, scroll down to properties, and it should tell you your current RAM. 256 MB of RAM is kind of low but isn't too bad if you just browse the internet and use a few programs, 512 MB is good for regular use, and anything above that is great if you run a lot of games, programs, etc.

Is your computer a known/popular brand?

This may help if it is the case
