How to add an outline to an image in Photoshop?

I'm editing an image in Photoshop and it has a white background. How do I add an outline to it?

if you mean like a border around the picture just use the rectangle tool or draw lines arond it to resemble a rectangle lol.
Im not amazing with photoshop.

What do you mean?? Have you drawn anything, or are you still on your blank template??
