it's mainly because TOP 40 radio and ROCK radio will mostly only play male oriented music. It's one of the main reason that Sarah McLachlan formed LILITH FAIR a few years ago. He wanted to prove that females can "rock" too.

But everyone seems to think that only "men" can make real rock. Their are tons of great femal bands, and female lead singers in bands...but they don't get the same kinda attention as bands like NICKLEBACK, FALL OUT BOY, or THE KILLERS.

Check out THE GOSSIP, or LE TIGRE. And you already know about EVANESCENCE.

Don't know but it funny that the best chefs and the best hairdressers in the world are also always male. Maybe fewer women get high up in the professions because they have families instead. It made me laugh when the Spice Girls when on about Girl Power, a slogan invented by a man from a band managed by men with songs written mostly by men!

The best artists throughout history have almost all been men. Maybe because, in one way or another, most art was created to please a woman or, at least, impress a woman. A second answer may be because most art is an attempt to fill a void or overcome some dissatisfaction with the world and we men tend to be the restless, dissatisfied sex - not all of us but then not all of us are great artists, either. A third answer may be that women express their inner life through conversation and connecting with others - in general, men aren't as good at that, so we express ourselves in a typically male way - by using tools such as guitars and paint brushes to help us express what's inside.

It's probably because more men got a chance then women so there were more male bands at first....but also it may be a testosterone thing too. I mean, music, especially rock, hard rock, heavy metal, etc, is very sexual and hard core and women generally do not have the testosterone levels that men have.

I think it's because it is a very female orienteered crowd and bands like The Kooks and The Fray appeal to both men and women.

The answer is simple, just listen to the Queen ( Freddie-Mercury ) now that is a Group. No female band/ group could ever be compared to them.

You obviously have never heard anything by the band Heart. Ann and Nancy Wilson are amazing vocalists and musicians.
