If your hard drives file system is not NTFS, you can't make your folders private. The 'make this folder private' box will be grayed and will not be accessible.
If your file system is NTFS and still if the box is greyed the reason is that the folder in which the folder which you want to make private is already made private. If that folder is made private, there will be already a tick in the grey part of the subfolder.
If there is no tick part in the grey part, your file system is not NTFS.Convert to NTFS and make the folder private.

If you don't want to convert to NTFS, you can get some softwares which can lock folders. You can find it by searching in Google.

Best of luck from JONNAN.

maybe the root folder, or the parent folder (the one where the folder u want to unshare is) is shared. Try unsharing it first then sharing only the ones you want to share.
