I have mixed feelings about it, actually. I personally believe that abortion should be legally considered the taking of human life. It should be allowed in certain circumstances to protect the life of the mother, but otherwise should be viewed as murder. Why is it that a mother can kill her baby 2 days before birth and it is her choice, but 2 days after birth she can be convicted of 1st degree murder? No one should have the "choice" to take someone else's life. Not even your own child's, and not even if they are still inside you.

However, like it or not, the law currently states that abortion is legal. While some people try to say you can't legislate morality, that is an ignorant statement. That is the entire point of laws! Laws are put into place to indicate the agreed morality of the civilization, and to enforce that code of ethics. Our government has stated that there is nothing morally wrong with abortion. This law seems to disagree with that at some point. While the argument can be made that this law is to make sure that before a woman makes a choice that has very permanent results, she needs to make a truly informed decision, it can also be seen that it is a way to try to make a woman feel that she is doing something morally wrong. If the law of the land says it is not immoral, than another law should not seem to contradict that. The idea of making laws that force people to weigh their options before making a major medical decision doesn't worry me. The idea of making laws to try to somehow circumvent someone's rights, however, does. If the people of South Carolina want to challenge abortion, make a bill that outlaws them all together and have it taken to the U.S. Supreme Court. Try and change the law, but don't try to go around it.

I think it's horrendous and a violation of the woman's right to choose. It forces the opinion of someone else down her throat and gives her no alternative. It pushes the morals of the state on the woman and takes away her individual liberty, and this is wrong no matter how you slice it.

It also isn't law yet because the governor hasn't signed it.

Using the legal system to force one's own moral/religious convictions onto the general public is just plain wrong. The people who sit back on their righteous haunches and say, "Abortion is murder, period!" are out of touch with reality. I won't go into the never-ending debate of when life actually begins, but I will say that there are a lot more reasons for considering an abortion than the anti-abortion zealots choose to consider or even recognize. This stupid piece of legislation forces that narrow-minded point of view on the people of the State, and I, as a citizen of that state, refuse to have it done to me.

My personal stance on abortion is the same as my stance on helmet laws (I'm also a biker): I don't believe in helmet laws because I believe the choice should be up to the biker, but I don't believe in riding without a helmet, either. I don't believe in laws against abortion because I believe it's the WOMAN'S choice and NOT YOURS.

Yeah, I know, all you Bible-thumpers out there are gonna say, "It's not a helmet, it's a baby!" And that statement will prove exactly what I'm saying - I'm talking about the CHOICE, not the OBJECT. Take the blinders off, willya?

i see absolutely nothing wrong with it. many women make hasty decisions to get an abortion and later regret it. this provides them a way to really understand the impact of what they are doing. if they still want an abortion they will have one if it changes their mind there are other options like adoption. i cant imagine why anyone would be against anything that really does nothing more than force women to really think about the full ramifications of what it means to have an abortion and perhaps will lead to less of them. it is not outlawing abortions, it is not making them harder to get. so why is it a problem.
