Conservatives aren't going to admit it. Most of them live in those areas! Red states are an embarassment to America, low education rate and higher pregnancy rates. It seems they've never taught them how to put on a condom. I live in New Jersey, is great and New York is perfect. We have some Republicans but they're not conservatives. You can't compare Mississippi with New York, there is no comparison. California is a pretty good state too and it voted for Kerry in 2004. The Northeastern states are generally more well-educated, lower divorce rates, and more tolerant. Our economic policies work and our social policies are great. All the studies back it up and if we went ahead to do another survey, the results will be the same.

Because all the blue states are in the North and all the red states are in the south and west, just look at a political map during an election.

Cautionary note about rankings
The ranks in some tables are based on estimates derived from a sample(s). Because of sampling and nonsampling errors associated with the estimates, the ranking of the estimates does not necessarily reflect the correct ranking of the unknown true values. Thus, caution should be used when making inferences or statements about the states' true values based on a ranking of the estimates. As an example, the estimated total (average, percent, ratio, etc.) for State A may be larger than the estimates for all other states. This does not necessarily mean that the true total (average, percent, ratio, etc.) for State A is larger than those for all other states. Such an inference typically depends on --among other factors-- the size of the difference(s) between the estimates in question, and the size of their associated standard errors.
In other tables, the ranks are based on a complete enumeration of the target population, or on complete administrative reporting from the population. In such cases, sampling is not used, and there is no sampling error component in the estimates. Still, care should still be taken when making inferences or statements based on the rankings. The table values may still exhibit nonsampling error originating from such sources as coverage problems (missing units or duplicates), nonresponse, misreporting, and others

I stay in blue state, New Jersey. We pay greater taxes than maximum crimson states like Texas the place there is not any state earnings tax. we've an overpopulation concern, so now Corzine is investment federal housing in wealthy communities which will reason many to leave those factors. Many scholars, like me, flow out of state for faculty because of fact of their severe training quotes because of Corzine reducing their investment. And New Jersey isn't between the main secure states; Camden is interior the right 5 in terms of homicide and robberies. we've superb healthcare because of fact electorate pay numerous the utmost coverage rates interior the rustic and we've properly-consumer-friendly hospitals like Robert timber Johnson and Kennedy medical middle.

colorado red state ranked #2
deleware blue state ranked #20
this trend continues throughout.
and your safest states list, from 2004 which is skewed no matter what. the scale is 1 safest 50 most dangerous. this is based on a scale of the number of violent crimes per year per capita.
1 north dakota red state
2 vermont blue state
3 maine blue state
4 new hampshire blue state
5 south dakota red state
6 west virginia red state.
7 montana red state
8 wyoming red state
9 iowa traditionally a red state but recently it goes either way.
10 wisconsin red state.
the bottom of the barrel
40 michigain much like iowa. lately its blue.
41 california doesnt get much bluer or more violent.
42 texas red. nuff said.
43 Tennessee traditionally red.
44 Florida see Iowa again. it flips back and forth all the time.
45 new Mexico red state.
46 south Carolina its in a red trend so red gets the state.
47 Maryland ouch its blue
48 Arizona not sure on this one but i think it is a blue state.
49 Louisiana blue state
50 Nevada the devil in a "blue state" blue dress.
it seems pretty even across the board throughout all of your links if you would like i can continue to disprove your ASSumption. it would be fun and i have the time. besides you gave me the evidence to do it.
by the way the crime stats every year are very skewed because a number of crimes go unreported and many law enforcement agencies do not report their annual crime statistics therefor it is impossible to ever truly gauge the crime statistics for a given year. (i got a degree in criminal justice its one of those nifty facts that every cop on earth will confirm.) te he this was fun i love being smarter than you.

As with any explanation for economic and social differences, there are historical reasons for the differences. What concerns me currently is that the blue states, in general, continue to be “donor” states under the federal tax system. If red-state conservatives are so concerned about “responsibility” and “self-reliance” they should be pushing hard to correct this imbalance. I understand that it will never be an exact dollar-for-dollar exchange and blue state liberals will always be willing to help the less fortunate states but the current situation is so skewed that it needs more focused attention to highlight exactly what’s going on.

Imagine that. A liberal with a list of facts made by liberals. I am certain the Nazi's and the Communists had long lists of facts also. So whats your point, the red states need higher taxes and more welfare. I like your term "economic policies". What does "economic policies" mean. What it means is tax, tax, red tape, red tape, pork for the unions for votes, pork for welfare to keep em' down and voting and high values training like "how 3rd grades should use a condom/abortion for teens". Why don't you include murder rates and crime the next time you post a question.
