A lot depends on where the first date is. Whatever you do wear, make sure it's you. Don't get a fancy and dress up in something that you usually would not wear.

Dress, of course, for the weather. Keeping that in mind, adjust my recommendations accordingly: Casual: A solid polo shirt and, since Spring has arrived on our side of the continent, white pants or light tan with socks to match the shirt and shoes to match the pants. Dressy: If it's a place where "church atire floats," a nice suit, dress shirt, shoes to match the suit, and socks to match the shirt work. After 5 Ritzy: A nice tux, cumberbund, matching tie, ruffle shirt to go with the color of the suit, socks to match the shirt, shoes to match the suit, gold or silver cuff links if you want. Don't forget the Polo!

Wear a suit. First dates are not for casual, unless you've agreed on that ahead of time. A suit shows her a) you have money, and b) you respect her. Also, take her to a nice restaurant...not Denny's!

Depends on the setting...you wouldn't wanna go out in a Suit and Tie to a Bar and Grill, so you need to figure out the setting first.

Either:

Wear what you would normally as this is a true representation of yourself

OR

Birthday suit (which is also a true representation of yourself).
