hey
i have just (yest just this minit) perchased a fish tank (small) and i while i wait for its arival by post, i would like to know what pretty, colourful, intresting to look at fish i can use without buying a pump (just a plant) or needing to heat the tank.
the room it will be placed in has a relatively constant room temp.
any tips would be aprisiated.

A beta is your only real option here.
Gold fish require a lot of room, and a lot of oxygen and Filtration they do not belong in a bowl
How large is the tank you are getting via post?
Remember, female betta can stay together. They are not as "flowing" as the males which cannot stay with other bettas. They can live with other fish but not of their own species.

I vote for the betta. Beautiful fish. Doesn't need a filter. Needs somewhere to rest and hide. I've seen bettas in tall glasses at my neighbor's house. The poor fish have nowhere to hide or sleep. When I went over one night they were down on their sides on the bottom of the glasses sleeping. When awake they just hover in the glasses because they have nowhere to swim. Please give your betta (if you get one) enough room to swim and hiding places. I have a four gallon tank for mine. It's really not too large and it gives him a lot of swimming space.

A betta is probably the best choice although if the tank is 2 gallons or more you could also include White Clouds on that list.

A crown tail or veil tail betta are easy to get in stores they do somtimes have other ones but mostly you can buy them on the internet from breeders but thier kind of expensive

Gold fish do not require a pump or heat. Also Betta, but must have plant for Betta.

siamese fighting fish, very beautiful and colourful....just noticed that these are also called bettas as others have suggested. must be the difference between countries
