how can a student start preparing for career as an astronaut??

i m a student and want to be an astonaut.How can i prepare myself to enter NASA??I have started taking intrest in daily happenings in the field of science.Please guide me

Well, I know you will need a college education, preferably in mathematics, science, or engineering. In any case, take lots of science and math in high school and college. Military experience is also good. One answerer mentioned the Navy, but I think the Air Force would be better because an astronaut should have a good understanding of aircraft. You must be in excellent physical condition as well. On top of all that, you just have to be at the right place at the right time.

College, as much of it as you can get. They a stint in the Navy would help. But after college you will want to try to enter the Astronaut core. This is hard to get into. I mean very hard. You'll need to be in top physical and mental health. I believe at least a PhD or two, written and published many times.

All I can say is, if you are the pilot, beware of the controls and don't make any mistakes otherwise your fellow colleagues and yourself will perish. If you are looking for a guide to become an astronomer, I am the one who should be answering.

2. Contact NASA (by mail or email) and ask them to help you prepare for the job.

Make sure you have a box of really good, leak free diapers for those long drives to your fellow astronaut's home. Take some shooting classes and please use something alittle stronger than a pellet gun. Best of luck!
