Try some Steve Vai. He plays a wicked guitar in his own right. He came to light when he transcribed all of Frank Zappa's albums into written music (albums up until that time). Something Frank hadn't even done himself. He's also played in Whitesnake and David Lee Roth's band.

I'd suggest you tried and listen to Luciano Ligabue's music...
He is an Italian artist and not very famous abroad, but his music and his lyrics are absolutely brilliant...
Of course it would help if you spoke Italian...

I would recommend Enigma L.S.D album its real chilling and is good to listen to any type of mood your in. I think there amazing anyway.
