I have a dry sample of what I can presume is blood. Is there any way to test with household materals, spices, chemicals, anything to see if it is positive for blood.

Blood contains and enzyme, catalase, that reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce water and oxygen. Hydrogen peroxide is a common drugstore disinfectant. In the presence of blood with intact catalase, you will see bubbles of oxygen. This isn't the best test for the presence of blood, but it's the cheapest and easiest to come by.

You can also use:
Luminol and Spectrophotometric tests
Benzidine
Takayama test
Leucomalachite green
Phenolphthalein
Tetra-methyl bezidine

These tend to indicate blood by color change.
