you know what your speech should be about: a tribute to parents from the perspective of all of you graduating seniors.
your opening statement will have to be a sincere, interesting and powerful assertion on why your parents deserve the tribute...from you, as from everybody else, including those not yet graduating...and deserve the tribute, not just now, but always. in short, it doesn't take a graduation to thank your parents.
it helps if you can use an interesting statement that "asserts" something in a way that "intrigues or tickles" the imagination, catches everybody's attention (without being shocking). it should be an opener that makes your audience interested in what you said, wonder why you said it that way, and make them want to listen to what you have to say in support of your opening statement. "intrigue" plus humor is a technique that works if used with prudence and respect (don't forget, it's supposed to be a tribute, not a roast.)
so the next question is "why", "why now, not later", and "why specially you in behalf of the entire class"?
it would help if you drew up a list of the major reasons. if you have a lot of them, try and group them into 3-5 major reasons.
make sure that when you write your speech, all the reasons are tied in together...all leading to your...
conclusion, which is essentially a summation of the major reasons in support of the assertion you made at the opening of your speech.
while a 10-minute speech, delivered at your normal speaking rate, is ideal, it's not so much the length as what you have to say that's important. if you can make every word count because it comes from your heart, your audience will not have any problem believing that every minute spent listening to you counted.
if you don't need it like "right now", i can help you, go over your draft and help you polish it. but you gotta write it yourself first.
good luck with the speech and congratulations on your graduation!
