Your car will sound like it's sucking air and it will run really rough. It is really rare that you will have a cracked intake gasket. If your car will still run then take a water bottle and go around it (don't get water in the carberator) and if there is a crack it will spray back so you can see where the crack is! Hope this helped!

first of all what kind of car is it? its kind of uncommon for this to happen but if it did it might not effect the car at all(small crack) or the car might not run at all (very large crack) it should trigger a check engine light for having a vacuum leak if the crack is large enough. some cars the gasket is a very easy fix, some cars not so much.

Get a small propane plumber's torch. Turn it on real low (do not ignite it!) with the engine running, wave the propane around the top of the engine, especially front and rear and near the valve covers. Any leaking of the intake will pull in the propane and cause the engine to increase in rpm slightly.
