I want to reinstall my XP,but I'm with laptop and its original cd is something like dead,so i use an USB connected CD/DVD .THe problem is that bios can't load windows from there.What should i do?(My laptop is gericom and there is absolutely no support in the site)

go into your bios set up

Scroll through the options until you reach the USB section and make sure that all options are enabled.

your should try a system restore before installing Xp hitting f8 on startup takes afew pratices to get this to work but f8 should get you to a recovery screen


or do an xp repair


you can make a boot disk @http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994
once you get your cd drive going

You can't boot from a USB Drive, sorry. You need to use a drive that's connected with a 'proper' connector.
