If you are not attracted at all to members of the same sex than why would you be drawn to them? If you do not engage in homosexual activity how can you learn it? If, never having engaged in homosexual activity you feel a desire to experiment with it, then there is an inherent impulse there, that may be weak or strong enough for a person to find in themselves a preference one way, the other, or both. Sexuality is like any other aspect of life, a constant journey of self discovery.

My heart of hearts tell me that it is a combination of both. Gays aren't going to like the answer and straights aren't either. From what I see until you reach pubity you are in a learning stage. This applies to both male and female, generally we are pretty much taught to be either male or female. Everyone one is born with both a female and male gender, and female or male sex organs they are not always the same. Advertently or inadvertently we learn from those around us. There are a lot of people that fall between Kinefelters and the occasional straight cross dresser. Consider these thoughts when you think about this. Mama and older sister dress little Johnny as a little girl age 3 y.o. to them it is just a game and cute, little Johnny found total acceptance from mama and his older sister, Johnny was just taught by mama and older sister to be a little girl, that it was fun and a kinship not like being a boy. With others the gender quality came through at a much plain than did the sex organs.

People that think that it is self selected are mistaken, who in their right mind would want to be pointed at and called all kinds of nasty names.

Christians, remember some thing about, "He without sin cast the first stone." and another, "judge not that ye may not be judged."

Gays; stop being so defensive, you are who you are and let it go at that, unless people that you care about have turned their backs on you, don't worry about it. Mama and Pop with get over it when they come to grips with it.

Homosexuality has been shown to have a biological basis, therefore it is a characteristic that someone is born with.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation. Mothers of gay men produced an average of 2.7 babies compared with 2.3 born to mothers of straight men. And maternal aunts of gay men had 2.0 babies compared with 1.5 born to the maternal aunts of straight men.

Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Normally, X chromosome inactivation occurs at random: half of the cells in a woman's body will have one X chromosome inactivated, while the other half inactivates the other chromosome. Researchers found that in about a quarter of mothers who had at least two gay sons every single cell in these women inactivated the same X chromosome while only 4 percent of mothers with no gay sons showed this type of extreme skewing.

A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, that the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.

A January 2007 Australian report suggested to be gay you need to receive one gay gene from both parents, and that those with only one gay gene have a selective advantage because they are heterosexual but have increased style, male sex drive, charm and seductiveness towards women.

In my opinion, you are born homosexual. If we're being completely honest here, there is nothing that disheartens me more than when a gay person claims that he/she chose to be gay. There is no logical way that someone can choose their sexual orientation. It would be like someone claiming that they chose to have brown eyes.

The ONLY CHOICE in sexual orientation is the choice of whether or not you're going to be honest with yourself. Many people choose to lie and lead a "straight life" when in fact they know they are gay. That's what the intolerance and hatred of today's society has brought us to. When you suppress who you really are and live a lie, it kills your soul and life becomes meaningless.

Imagine a reverse society in which heterosexuality was the so-called "social abnormality." You want to fit in with society's norms, so you lie to yourself and suppress your natural urges. Would that not kill who you are? It is unthinkable to have to live such an atrocious lie.

Hopefully in the future people will come to realize that choice has nothing to do with sexual orientation. It is one of those vicious lies that continuously hurt those who are simply trying to be who they are.

You're born with it honey.....but for those guys still trying to cling on to what little straightness they have left claim to be straight and just chose to be gay. You don't choose it...it's either you like what you're doing with a man because it's natural to you or you just kept deny you're gay because you don't want to admit you really are.
