I don't have a balcony. But when I did I used to grow flowers and fruit trees (miniatures).

I always wanted a garden and years ago I attempted to grow carrots (had great green but no orange), strawberries (now I know you need lots of plants to get just a few berries), pear and plum trees (you have to feed them every so often).

When I was growing up we grew leaf lettuce, peas, pole beans, tomatoes, belle peppers, onions, radishes, beets, garlic, parsley, and we had several peach trees, and we exchanged fruits and vegetables with neighbors who grew their own too. I liked their cherries, figs and grapes.

We're into gardening "big time" and we grow a wide variety of crops; corn, potatoes, tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, herbs, etc.
